A Festival of Cultures: Holyway Schools Hosts Spectacular Cultural Day Event”.

Holyway Schools celebrated its annual Cultural Day Ceremony on Friday, March 24th, 2023, in a colourful and spirited event that brought together students, staff, and families to honour and showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

The school grounds were transformed into a lively festival of culture, with students dressed in traditional attire representing a variety of Nigerian ethnic groups, including Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and more. The atmosphere was filled with the sounds of traditional music, drumming, and dancing as each group presented cultural displays that included folk songs, drama, poetry, fashion parades, and local delicacies.

The event opened with a welcome address by the School Chairman, Pastor Akinola Fapohunda, who emphasized the importance of cultural awareness and unity in a diverse society. “Our Cultural Day is more than just a celebration,” he noted. “It’s an opportunity for our students to connect with their roots, appreciate other cultures, and embrace the values of respect and togetherness.”

Highlights of the day included a masquerade performance, cultural dance competition, and a showcase of traditional arts and crafts made by the students. Parents and guests were visibly impressed by the students’ enthusiasm and the authenticity of the presentations.
